Megan Thee Stallion is recovering after being hospitalized during a performance of Moulin Rouge on March 31. The rapper and restaurateur turned Broadway star withdrew from the stage and was replaced by an understudy so that she could attend to a sudden health matter.

“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her rep told Variety.

The Breakfast Club’s Loren Lorosa was in the audience and witnessed the performance being stopped in real time. “Came to see Meg The stallion on broadway and that was short lived,” she posted on X. Larosa confirmed that Pete was doing a great job before the show was suddenly paused.

Why Was Megan Thee Stallion in The Hospital?

Pete shared updated information on her condition via a representative to the Hollywood Reporter. “On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Doctors ultimately identified extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels as the cause of her symptoms. Megan has since been treated, discharged and is now resting,” read the statement. “Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ on Thursday,” it continued.

The Hot Girl Coach sent a direct message to her fans who have been flocking to the theater to see her perform since she stepped into the role as Zidler recently on March 24. She deemed the experience “a real wakeup call” in a post on her Instagram page.

“Last night was a real wake-up call for me. I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance, but I just couldn’t,” she wrote. “Hotties I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting yall down 🥺 I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been..I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve. Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything.”

What Is Exhaustion?

Exhaustion, also known as fatigue, can have serious consequences. According to a 2021  article from the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, it is a common condition, especially among people who work for a living. The Brain, Behavior, and Immunity Health Journal states that “Fatigue is a common, yet complex symptom experience that is reported by both healthy individuals and individuals with acute and chronic medical conditions.” You don’t need to be a Grammy award-winner to face its impacts. Everyone, from cafeteria workers to neurosurgeons, can be exhausted.

Brain, Behavior, and Immunity Health Journal adds that “The negative effects of fatigue range from losses of productivity at work due to medical disability, occupational hazards, deaths from medication errors, and suicidal ideation, and clarifies that “These negative effects cut across disciplines, sectors, and populations.”

Prolonged exhaustion can lead to things like burnout.

What Is Dehydration?

According to the BMC Public Health Journal, “Dehydration results from a decrease in total body water content either due to less intake or more fluid loss. Common symptoms of dehydration are dry mouth/tongue, thirst, headache, and lethargy.”

Brandy fled from the stage during a Chicago stop of “The Boy Is Mine” tour in October 2025 due to dehydration.

What Other Celebrities Have Had Cases of Exhaustion and Dehydration?

Other celebrities who have been hospitalized for exhaustion include Rita Ora and Tracy Morgan. Beyoncé was forced to reschedule a 2013 show for the “Mrs. Carter World Tour” in Belgium due to exhaustion. Mariah Carey was hospitalized for a case of “extreme exhaustion” in 2001.

Pete is invested in healthcare projects, the food service industry, philanthropy programs, and other major commitments, in addition to her music career. She has endorsement deals, acting gigs, and fashion collaborations that require time, attention, and energy.

She is not the only rapper to be transparent about their health challenges. Pete’s fellow Southern spitter Monaleo was recently forced to pause her “Who Did The Body” tour after being hospitalized for an ovarian cyst. She encouraged her fans to listen to their bodies after losing a fallopian tube.
